Materials:
16 inch No. 8 (5mm) circular knitting needles
4 double pointed knitting needles
Lion’s Brand Heartland 4 medium acrylic yarn in Redwood
Lion’s Brand Vanna’s Choice 4 medium acrylic yarn in Crisp White

Gauge:
20 stitches = 4.75 inches in stockinette stitch on straight No. 8 (5mm) knitting needles

Pattern:
Cast on 60 stitches of white yarn for 12-24 month hat.

Row 1: K1, P1 until the end of the round
Row 2: P1, K1 until the end of the round
Repeat rows 1 & 2 for about 2 inches.

Join in red yarn and knit until the end of the round.
Continue knitting each round for about 3.5 inches.

Decrease using the following pattern:
Knit 13, Knit 2tog until the end of the round
Knit until the end of the round
Knit 12, Knit 2tog until the end of the round
Knit until the end of the round
Knit 11, Knit 2tog until the end of the round
Knit until the end of the round
Knit 10, Knit 2tog until the end of the round
Knit until the end of the round
Knit 9, Knit 2tog until the end of the round
Knit until the end of the round
Knit 8, Knit 2tog until the end of the round
Knit until the end of the round
Knit 7, Knit 2tog until the end of the round
Knit until the end of the round
Knit 6, Knit 2tog until the end of the round
Knit until the end of the round
Knit 5, Knit 2tog until the end of the round
Knit until the end of the round
Knit 4, Knit 2tog until the end of the round
Knit until the end of the round
Knit 3, Knit 2tog until the end of the round
Knit until the end of the round
Knit 2, Knit 2tog until the end of the round
Knit until the end of the round
Knit 1, Knit 2tog until the end of the round
Knit until the end of the round
Knit 2tog until the end of the round

Cut working yarn leaving a tail. Thread tail through tapestry needle and sew through remaining stitches, pull to tighten and close up hole. Knot and secure on inside of hat. Weave in any remaining loose ends on inside of hat.

Make a pom pom using the white yarn and sew onto the top of the hat.
